As hinted in the title, 16 Counties compete across the Winter months for an overall final County position. Counties are put into divisions of 4 (dependant on their results from the previous year) and then compete against the 3 opposing Counties in their group in the 5 main age categories.

Each age group is assigned a weekend day during the Winter that they play their event. Their final placing as a team is totalled at the end of the day and the equivalent score is noted. In the following months the other age groups will do the same, and at the end of the year the grand total is calculated and final positions are announced. So the event really is a culmination of all the top County players aged 10 to 18.

During the allocated day, an age group will have both a boys and a girls team representing Herts. They will play only singles matches (3) against the opposing Counties in their group. The rules may slightly change each year (eg. 10U groups will play green ball short sets) but the premise is always the same.

Each County will INVITE and send a team, plus captain, to the venue for the day. Each County also has 1 day where they must provide the referee and the balls - making it a real team effort for the region to organise.

The overall organisation is undertaken by Craig Haworth at Corby Indoor Tennis Centre, and he does a great job. The event is also subsisdised by the LTA due to its great provision of quality indoor tennis.

The event qualifies as a grade 4 team event, meaning that both ratings and rankings points are available for relevant age groups.
