During the May Day bank holiday weekend, Counties send teams across the Country to battle in their divisions for promotion.

Every County competes in their group/division (dependant on the previous years results) at each venue. The event is an outdoor singles and doubles event and involves selected teams aged 14 and under.

4 teams are in each division so that, during the (Saturday to Monday) weekend, each team will get the chance to play each other. A team will consist of 6 players plus captain(s). 6 rubbers will make up one day, with 4 singles matches and 2 doubles contributing to the final score. If the match score is 3-3, the total number of sets won will be counted, then games if necessary.

At the end of the weekend, the top team will be promoted and the bottom team will be demoted, with the remaining teams staying in the division for the following year. * In the top group, the event Champions are also decided.
